Education

I hold a bachelor's degree in early childhood and elementary education from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. I've taught Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade and 5th Grade. I hold a master's degree in learning and instruction from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. I've taught English as a Second Language. I've also tutored adult students English as a Second Language (ESOL) and developed face-to-face and online learning courses for adults in the workplace.

Experience

I have a non-traditional approach to teaching and learning. It's not pencil and paper based or lecture based. I engage the learner in every way! I determine the best way to help my students grasp information. I understand that each student is unique and personalize instruction. I specialize in early childhood (PreK-3) and elementary education (K-6). I have over 10 years of experience in the field of education. I've taught just about every grade level including PreKindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade and 5th Grade! I have teaching experience in several school districts in both Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia to include Fairfax County Public Schools, Loudoun County Public Schools, D.C. Public Schools, Manassas City Public Schools and Montgomery County Public Schools. I am familiar with the Common Core State Standards and Virginia Standards of Learning. I love to see the growth of my students! I've helped students make a year's worth of progress in just 4 months of instruction. I have an abundance of patience. I'm passionate and committed to finding solutions to problems and using innovative strategies to deliver results. As a classroom teacher, I've enjoyed working with students of all ages. While studying at George Mason University, I taught ESOL or English as a Second Language. After 8 years of teaching, I've found joy in watching each student progress in their own way and in their own time! I enjoy helping others and that's what brings me the greatest joy in life.
